Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant (map)
OK Photoshop fans!
Its a great time to discuss working with your images. Whether you're a seasoned Pro or just starting out, you'll find something to talk about and learn. One goal I strive for, is for this to be a social gathering as much as a Q & A session.
Remember our discussions, demos, and techniques mainly revolve around CS3. Other versions (older or newer) will have very similar capabilities and the base ideas will be the same... so please don't feel left out if your version is not CS3. The core techniques and steps will be the same.
At this event we'll discuss;
1) Layers usage and why its so important
2) Actions! what they are and if they're right for you
3) Masking techniques and when to use them
As part of our normal meeting event I will have the projector up and running CS3. I will be doing demos and showing a few small tips here and there. There is Wi-Fi so bring your laptop if you wish.
Since our projector doesn't show "High-Resolution" keep in mind that I'm trying to demonstrate the steps and techniques that are used. Its up to you to implement the steps at your own pace and on the equipment you use.
For those of you who do bring a laptop, I will have the sample images and actions available to load on your system, so you can follow along.
If you have suggestions, questions or other information please contact me directly. I often add information as the venue date nears, so please be on the watch for new updated emails.
Once again we will be meeting at Los Pancho's [see directions and restaurant info]. The staff will be giving us wonderful service. There will be a full menu available along with drink specials. I will make an announcement for any specials.
:::ANNOUNCEMENT:::
If more than 18 members RSVP for this event we will be in the main restaurant floor! Our meeting space was a little confined with 19 members. Also in order to see the screen better we'll turn the lights down for better visibility of the main screen.
This meeting event is "Free" if you find that this event was useful or fun and glad you came, then please consider donating $3.00 (donations can be made online or in person) so I can keep this group successful and worth while. (as always none are required and there is no obligation), we're just glad you came, Thanks!
Many, many apologies for missing the meeting. Life got in the way and that always sucks. Looking forward to next time. Again very sorry.
Hi, It was great to see everyone- sorry I had to leave a bit early. I was thinking that it might be fun if we had a project to work on either all the same art work or of our own choosing and then reverse engineer it at the meetup to see how each of us got to the final project. Just a thought. Cheers
I like Duncan't idea! Something small and rather closely defined, but we'd see lots of different ways to accomplish the same task. Also different interpretations of the same image. just my 2-cents worth...
The Meetup inspired me to get to work on some Photoshop work I had been putting off learning. When I got home, I immediately picked up my Photoshop book (Adobe's Lessons in a book on CS5) and got to work.
Incidentally, the food was excellent and my wife and I will be trying that place, again (Los Panchos). We live in Hamilton but it is not all that far from our place (about 30 minutes).
Tony, the location was convenient to us.
Nice to meet some of you fellers and gals.

Hi everyone. Tonight's meeting was great. There were good questions on masking and actions never could really figure out how to use them.
Gotta love the amateurs!! So, I learned something new, which is great. Good people and good food- good combination. Thank you Tony!! Hope to see you all again at the next meet up. See ya amigos!
