Introduction

I've been using digital photography since the summer of 2001. Until May 2007 I've occasionally used Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro for minor photo editing. After seeing an awesome demo of CS3 I finally decided to buy it. Now I'm lost!

Are you just browsing through or do you plan on participating in some way?

I have participated in the forums, and if schedule permits, I plan to attend a meetup. Would be more likely to attend events closer to Dayton.

What version of Photoshop are you using now?

CS3 & Elements 7. Will install Elements 8 soon.

What is your level of expertise in Photoshop?

Moderate. Quite a bit more with Photoshop Elements 6 & 7. Just got Elements 8.

What do you use Photoshop for?

Mostly for adjusting exposure, color balance, cropping, straightening, and maybe cloning out minor distracting items. Only a little experience with RAW so far.

What do you hope to learn or to contribute to this group?

I'm used to using auto smart fix or comparable in Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro. I barely even know where to start in CS3 or Bridge.

  • Thanks for the comments on my images Dave! Yup, that one is an IR effect I learned to do in photoshop. Plus I added some diffuse glow/grain to make it look more like the true film IR images. I kind of took the way I was taught to process it and cooked it some more with my own experimentation to get the look I wanted. I'd be happy to share if you are interested! Glad you like the flower shot. I'm more of a portrait shooter so shooting scenics is quite a bit out of my comfort zone.
