I shoot with a Nikon D-300 and have for almost a year. If I just convert the image to .JPG it converts to 300 DPI.
If I bring the same image into PhotoShop via Camera Raw (I am using CS3 and Camera Raw 4.6) when I bring the image into Photoshop from Camera RAW it is at 240 DPI. It never used to do that when I had CS2 but since I got CS3 and bring .NEF files in via camera RAW they come in at 240 DPI. Any idea what or how I can change that?? Any help would be appreciated. On the bottom of camera raw, there should be a place you click on to change it.
You can save the settings there. I think..................... |

Yes this is were I change that setting, if I need to within ACR from a DNG but could have a negative affect on the final image. The final image as produced in CS3 in jpeg format will be based on those settings.
Based on the article I would recommend leaving as the default. Here is a great article about DPI -vs- PPI DPI and PPI Explained Here is an example ACR setting ![]() ![]() Edited by Tony Terentowicz on Jun 10, 2009 10:05 AM |

Thanks John, That is exactly where it is and worked fine. I am reading Tony's article and trying not to get confused but I think the end result is better at the 300 PPI which is what the photo lab wants in order to insure the best print quality. Thanks, both of you.
